GEO and SEO Services: How to Compare Scope

GEO and SEO are not regulated or standardized service categories. Providers may use either label for overlapping work, so compare deliverables and measurements rather than assuming a fixed distinction.

    Shared foundations

    • Accurate, useful public content.
    • Accessible pages, stable URLs, status and canonical controls.
    • Clear site architecture and internal links.
    • Structured data that matches visible content.
    • Editorial review and evidence maintenance.

    Possible SEO-specific scope

An SEO proposal may include query research, crawling and indexation, Search appearance, internal architecture, page templates, links, Search Console analysis, and organic conversion measurement. Verify the actual statement of work.

    Possible GEO or AEO-specific scope

A proposal using these labels may add fixed-prompt research, response capture, source-link coding, factual-error review, or publishing experiments. It should not report crawler access or schema validity as though those were assistant recommendations.

    Choose against the diagnosed problem

    • Buy technical SEO work for confirmed crawling, indexing, architecture, or Search problems.
    • Buy response research when a documented sample would inform decisions.
    • Buy content or governance work for unclear, unsupported, or conflicting facts.
    • Use a combined scope only when owners, datasets, and acceptance criteria remain explicit.

    Limits and next step

A label cannot determine which provider or channel will perform better. Establish a baseline, procure the missing capability, and assess each dataset on its own terms.

Discuss the questions, public pages, collection method, deliverables, and limitations before deciding whether a project is appropriate.
